Year 4 of my PhD. I have 50 pages written. I need 200. My advisor emails asking for drafts. I don't reply. I hide. I'm a professional avoider at this point.
The thing is, I love my research. I love my topic. But sitting down to write feels like running through quicksand. I'll do literally anything else — organize my bookshelf by color, learn a new language on Duolingo, deep-clean the fridge — anything to avoid opening that document.
I've tried all the advice. Pomodoro. Write every day. Write 15 minutes then stop. Nothing sticks.
Has anyone actually beaten dissertation procrastination? What worked? I'm desperate.
