Can a master's thesis study AI bias in politics? I found a topic. 🤖🗳️

I'm starting my MA in political science and I want to study something actually relevant, not another historical case study. I found this dissertation topic listing from the University of Zurich about ideological bias in large language models .

They argue that political science has only begun to consider what it means if AI systems carry implicit worldviews . Most attention goes to specific actors like DeepSeek or Musk, while the most influential systems — OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity — remain under-examined .

The challenge is unpacking what "political bias" even means in this context. Is it about outputs? Training data? The cleaning and filtering procedures? The alignment layers that shape model behavior?

This feels huge and important. Has anyone done a thesis on AI and politics? How do you even start? I'm excited but also terrified.
